Installation & Setup
Do I need to turn off my water supply to install it?
No, the system fits completely on the outside of your pipes. You do not need to cut any plumbing or turn off your water.
Does it matter which way I wrap the wire coil?
No, you can wrap the wire in any direction regardless of the water flow.
What should I do with excess wire?
If your wire is too long, cut off the extra length. Do not leave excess wire dangling or coiled loosely up in a bunch.
Can I install it next to metal objects?
Keep the wire coil at least 15 cm away from large iron or steel objects, such as electrical motors. Normal nearby appliances like washing machines are fine.
How It Works
Does this change the taste or quality of my drinking water?
No, your water remains chemically unchanged. It retains all beneficial minerals and healthy tastes, meaning you do not need to install a separate drinking tap.
Where does the removed limescale go?
The system alters the calcium crystals so they can no longer stick to surfaces. Existing scale slowly dissolves back into the water and safely washes away down the drain in microscopic amounts.
Will the clearing scale block my plumbing?
No, limescale breaks down gradually into a soluble solution, so it will not break off in large chunks or block your pipes.
Costs & Performance
How much electricity does the unit use?
The Scalewatcher is highly efficient. It runs continuously and costs roughly £5-£10 per year in electricity.
How long does it take to see results?
You will notice changes within 4 to 6 weeks. Look out for softer scale around your taps, loose scale flaking out of your kettle, and faster water heating times.
